About the Artist

Born in Wellington Doug currently lives in Blenheim. An NZCE aeronautical qualified engineer and commercial pilot, Doug has spent a good deal of his working life in the aircraft industry. His experience includes that of an inspector, technician, and pilot and as a member of a design team on the A4 Skyhawk upgrade project for the RNZAF.
Many factors spark an inspiration for any creation, for Doug,
“one especially is the study of evolutionary process of biological form and human machinery. In their own way they both need to respond to diverse and shifting environmental influences by applying available means to survive What results if functional and often aesthetically pleasing results or ‘if it looks good – it will probably work’”
This is the core driver of his work.
