About the Artist

Wendy Murphy is a printmaker who lives and works in Marlborough; originally from Wellington she studied for three years under the late New Zealand printmaker, John Drawbridge. A graduate of Wellington Design School, in the early 1980’s she has continued with her own printmaking practice exhibiting continually nationally and internationally. She has exhibited with Internationally renowned London artists in dealer galleries in Whitechapel and been selected for large International shows in the United States, Canada & Bulgaria; Notably the Center for Contemporary Printmaking Biennial foot Prints 2008, International Miniature Print Exhibition New York 2009, International Miniature Prints Canada 2009, 7th Lessedra World Art Print Annual Bulgaria, and finalist in The New Zealand Painting and Printmaking Award 2009 & 2011.

Wendy’s practice primarily consists of hand printing images engraved into copper plates onto rag paper. As an art educator, she has taught in a wide range of art institutions including tertiary and secondary.
